INGREDIENTS:


1 cup sugar

2 or 3 eggs (slightly beaten
)
1 cup Karo

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/2 to 1 cup pecan meats (coarsely chopped)

1 teaspoon vanilla



TO PREPARE:


Mix above ingredients – add nut meats last.  Pour into standard size pie pan or 8-inch square hollow pan lined with pie pastry. 

Place in hot oven (400 degrees) and bake until filling is firm – about 50 minutes. 

Watch – sometimes cooks over!  It is done when a silver knife blade inserted comes out clean. 

This is a very thin batter but puffs up a bit during the baking.  The finished filling is firm and crusty.  Cool slowly.  A very rich pie – serve in smaller portions than ordinary pies.  May top with whipped cream.  Serve hot or warm.
